Solar Energy (Photovoltaic)

Solar Energy (Photovoltaic)

  • Lower your electric bill.
  • Improve the value of your home.
  • Reduce your carbon footprint.
  • Earn money back on your investment.
  • Combat rising electricity costs.

What is Solar Energy?

Solar Energy primarily means the energy that the sun emits. The energy that comes from the sun is transformed into heat, and that is what people use since the advent of time to generate fire, cook our dishes, and dry our clothes. We have discovered electricity upon discovering that we can manipulate light and use semi-conducting materials to light our nights. Since then, we have now transformed and converted light into the photovoltaic effect.

Where can we use Solar Energy?

Environmental Awareness is fundamental. This principle allows us to be more aware of the fragility of our planet, think of ways to co-exist with other life forms harmoniously, and protect our environment against total degradation.

Think of our homes; we are now living in a technology-savvy time. Every corner of our homes has electrical appliances. We rely on the power of the photovoltaic effect to light up our homes, make the machines work, and essentially make our lives much more manageable. Our washing machine needs electricity, our radios, our TVs, our phones. How can we help sustain our energy and ensure that our use of power is not detrimental to our surroundings? Can we make our homes a space for the consumption of renewable energy? The answer to that would be solar panels.

What are the benefits of solar panels?

Solar Panels are photovoltaic assimilation, which uses sunlight as a direct energy source to create active current or electricity. It has layers of individual solar cells which are composed of silicon and phosphorus. These materials allow the solar panel to absorb photons and, in turn, generate an electric current.

Solar panels have endless benefits to the environment. It is renewable and inexhaustible, meaning we have an unlimited source of free energy coming from the sun. It is also non-polluting and avoids global warming. We all know how big of an issue global warming is today, and we are all affected by it. With solar energy, we can minimize our consumption of heat-generating materials such as coal and gas, which will help our environmental efforts be successful.

How can you use sustainable energy in your home and workplace?

You might wonder, can solar energy be used in residential and commercial buildings continuously? Yes, you can. Think of not only serving your environment but saving money as well. This way can be an excellent investment since you do not have to pay substantial electrical bills anymore. See it as a domino effect. Your operating costs will decrease, you now have more control over what you spend on, and the maintenance of installing solar panels is relatively low.

For a head start, install Rooftop Solar Panels to get you started on your journey for sustainable and renewable energy. You may use it to light up a bulb in your room, heat your food in the oven, and power your electric fan. It may seem a small feat initially, but it will surely help our planet heal in the long run.

Other key information

In the United States, a federal tax incentive encourages its people to shift to renewable energy. This law is passed for the benefit of its citizens. And to help augment the tax dues of all residential and commercial building owners. The amount of investment one consumes to build a solar project is computed, and the government deducts it in their income taxes.

Back to School

  • School Supply Kit.
  • Preparation tips.
  • Child’s outfits.

As summer comes to a close, it is time to start getting the kids ready for a new school year. Parents will begin shopping for all the materials their child will need to have a successful school year and be ready to start learning on day one. Here are a few tips as to help parents and students prepare for a stress free and successful first day.

Attire
Parents should take a moment to familiarize themselves with the school dress code listed for their child’s school. Most schools will send a list of rules about what type of clothing is appropriate for boys and girls to wear. One can also find these details on the school’s online webpage. Some schools allow students to choose what they wish to wear, while other schools may require a student to wear a uniform.
After learning what attire is appropriate for school, parents can begin to plan their child’s outfits for the upcoming year. Each child will need at least five outfits a week for the five days of school they attend. Buying several pairs of pants, skirts, dresses, and tops can be used to mix and match to create several different outfits. Clothing can be bought online or at a store. Children will need daily outfits for both warmer and colder weather. This includes outerwear such as gloves, rain/snow boats, windbreaker/rain jackets, hats, and winter coats.
Following the school dress code, be sure to include comfortable shoes on the list of items needed for school. A child may enjoy wearing dress shoes and sandals daily, but they may also be required to wear sneakers to gym to prevent tripping or accidents.

Backpack
A child’s backpack will be used daily and take a lot of wear and tear, so picking a durable backpack that will last the whole school year is a good idea. A good backpack will have broad straps and padding to keep a child’s shoulders from experiencing too much pressure. Adjustable straps are also a plus because they will allow the backpack to be adjusted to fit your child properly. Avoid backpacks that have fraying at the edges of its fabric, or have careless stitching, or exposed zippers.
A child’s backpack size should be proportional to their width. The backpack’s height should range from two inches below the shoulders to the child’s waist. A properly fitting backpack will keep a child from experiencing back and shoulder strain and pain.

Lunch Box/Lunch Bag
A child will need a lunch box/bag to carry his/her lunch and snacks to school in. A good lunch box/bag is easy to clean, leak proof, and insulated. The lunch box/bag chosen should be a lunch box/bag that is big enough to accommodate the size of a water bottle, juice box, or container that will be placed in it. A good lunch for a child is food that is healthy and filling, so they are fueled to learn. The children will most likely not have access to a microwave, so the food provided should not need to be heated. Here are a few ideas on lunch items to pack:

  • Freezer packs to keep food cold
  • Fruits/Vegetables
  • Juice boxes
  • Water bottle
  • Sandwich
  • Applesauce
  • Pretzels
  • String cheese
  • Yogurt

School Supplies
Here is a basic list of school supplies to purchase, that will allow any child to be successful through the school year. Keep in mind some teachers may ask for specific items after a child’s first day of school. For example, the math teacher may require a red folder for their class, or a certain kind of calculator. Labeling a child’s school supplies can be a helpful tip, so if the child misplaces or loses an item, then it can be returned to him/her.

  • Number 2 pencils
  • Erasers
  • Pencil sharpeners
  • Zippered pencil bag
  • Spiral notebooks (one for each subject)
  • Binders (one for each class)
  • Markers
  • Crayons
  • Highlighters
  • Pocket folders (one for each subject)
  • Twelve inch ruler
  • Colored pencil
  • Indexed cards
  • Glue sticks
  • Blunt-tipped scissors
  • Ballpoint pens

Masks
Some schools may require students to wear masks during classes and on the bus ride to school. Masks should fit well over the child’s nose and mouth. It should be comfortable. Buying several masks may be a good idea, so that the masks can be washed frequently.

Electronics
A parent may wish to buy a cellphone to keep in touch with their child during the day or in case of emergencies. They may also wish to purchase a computer to allow their child to better their studies and keep current in this technological age. These are great options to help support your child while they are at school and learning, however: keep in mind, cell phones, iPads, tablets, Chromebooks and other electronics will also have guidelines on when and how they may be used in a school. Some schools may provide students with computers/tablets to use at home and at school. It is a good idea for parents to familiarize themselves with the school’s policies on electronics before sending their child to school with personal electronics. Parents should also be sure to review the school’s policies with their child, so he/she understands when he/she is allowed to use a cellphone or computer during school hours.
Following these tips on what a child will need for the upcoming school year, will allow both parents and children to be ready to tackle the new school year. Children will be fully prepared for class and ready to learn. Parents can rest easy knowing all their hard work and preparation has set their children up for a successful year.
